Process/FAQs

Process - What does working with me look like?

  1. Free 20 min discovery call — We’ll dive into your brand vision, goals, and current marketing plans. What is and isn’t working for you. What you’d like to accomplish or improve. This call is really for me to understand your goals and brand to decide how I can best help you grow.

  2. Follow-up — After our call, if you are interested in working together, I’ll email you a proposal. Proposals are tailored to fit your individual needs.

  3. Contract — If you accept my proposal, I will send you a simple contract outlining the terms of our agreement. This ensures we are clear on the scope and details of what will be provided for the amount I’ve quoted you. Remember, this also protects you!

  4. Branding Call — This is a complimentary call where we fill out a branding guide to dive deep into your vision. This helps me get to know you as a client, and set clear expectations for what the copy will sound, look, and feel like! We’ll answer questions like who is your target audience and how you want to be portrayed in your copy, down to nitty-gritty details of the agreed projects so I’m equipped with all the knowledge and resources I need to get started.

  5. Brainstorming & Research — You’re welcome to be involved or pass the reins. Either way, I’ll be doing market research and planning SEO strategies & customized content for your project.

  6. First Draft — Sit back while I create the first draft. These are edited by a hired editing agency and then shared via email on Google Docs (If you’re not tech-savvy, don’t worry it’s easy and I can walk you through it). You will have access to comment or edit to give your feedback.

  7. Four Complimentary Rounds of Editing — Not sure I got the right tone? Want to make some small changes? No problem - I’m here to make your life easier, so as a new client, I provide 4 rounds of editing on any piece I write for you.

  8. Final Draft — The final draft is also turned in via email on Google Docs. The text is pre-formatted and ready to copy and paste for uploading to its final destination.

  9. Watch Your Business Grow — This part is easy :) Copywriting is the gift that keeps giving!

Wait — What is Copywriting?

Not Copyright, as in this guy ©

Copywriting is widely used in marketing, whether you realize it or not! In simplest terms, copywriting is SELLING something through writing

It may not be an immediate, literal sale, but if you’re a business owner you already know you’re always selling. You’re selling your brand, the personality/morals of your company, your product as the solution to their problem.

Copywriting can be a body of text or as small as few sentences. It’s more about the way the words are written.

Copywriting is simply writing in a conversational (often informal) tone. It always includes a call to action. It’s easy to read and digest, even if it’s a complex subject.

With specific techniques and formatting, a copywriter keeps your reader engaged and scrolling. (And when it’s relevant, incorporating SEO practices and keywords into the flow of the writing.)

If you put content out there without telling your consumers what to do… chances are they won’t do anything. Hiring a copywriter means you get more action from your readers.

What will you ask me on our discovery call?

Don’t stress! It is really just to get to know you and your brand. But here are a few typical questions I like to ask:

  1. Start from the beginning. Explain your business to me as If I were your sister who knows nothing about the brand or industry.

  2. What are you currently doing for online marketing?

  3. What type of marketing tactics have you used in the past that didn’t work?

  4. Who is your target audience?

  5. What are the biggest pain points of your target audience? How does your product solve their problems or stand up against the competition?

  6. Why were you inspired to start this brand?

Wait — What is SEO?

I’ll be honest - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is complicated. But the good news is, you don’t HAVE to know everything about it and how it works.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing your website (and content) for search engines like Google. How?

By using “keywords” and formatting techniques that generate traffic flow.

SEO keywords are like bingo words — words that win for you. They’re the words or phrases consumers are typing into search engines regularly. Keywords are your perfect ingredient to start ranking higher in searches.

& if I haven’t pounded this into your head enough yet, showing up in more searches means that your business grows organically. Instead of paying per ad, or per click, SEO techniques are [somewhat] evergreen. Together we can keep your site up to date and at the top of the list in those searches as SEO changes.

The most important thing to realize is that SEO is not a paid one time blast, but content that stays active online, it continues to maintain and build your rank in relevant searches.

Why do I need SEO? I’m already doing marketing.

General marketing is helpful for your brand and online presence. But if you aren’t incorporating SEO into your plan, chances are you are missing out on a LARGE section of your niche that just can’t find you online (low hanging fruit!).

SEO helps you show up in Google searches for topics relevant to your niche.

Your brand is actually SEEN! This gets you in front of far more potential customers.

How does SEO work?

No one really knows the exact formula. (what?) I know, that sounds weird.

Do a little research. No one knows exactly how Google (& other similar search engines) formulate their rankings.

What we do know based on the data, is that Google "scans” content, looking for a few important things that deem a site/source high quality.

These Google “crawlers” look for things like:

  • Keywords (remember our bingo words?)

  • Longtail keywords (phrases instead of single words)

  • Length (this shows it’s legit information)

Just to name a few. Google will rank these pages based on those aspects

Google wants to show its customer the highest quality, most relevant info first. I use SEO to tap into these techniques and formatting to show Google your content is the most relevant option.
